The gamification of LinkedIn
The business platform has launched a new feature that allows users to play puzzle games
LinkedIn has launched a new feature that allows users to play puzzle games directly on its platform, both on mobile and desktop.
Here are a few key points:
The games, named Pinpoint, Queens, and Crossclimb, are designed to offer daily engagement with features like metrics on high scores, daily streaks, leaderboards, and insights into which contacts are also playing.
These games are part of LinkedIn's strategy to increase user interaction and retention amidst a broader trend of digital content businesses leveraging games to attract and maintain audiences.
Notably, the games are currently free to play, focusing on boosting user engagement rather than direct monetization.
This move aligns with strategies from other companies like The New York Times and Netflix, which have also integrated games into their offerings to enhance subscriber value and engagement.
I tested all three games earlier today. They are not the most user-friendly, in my opinion, but they are reasonably entertaining.
