Shutterstock is betting on text-to-image AI technology
The provider of stock images is expanding its partnership with OpenAI
Shutterstock, a prominent provider of stock images, announced on October 25 it is expanding its relationship with OpenAI to provide text-to-image AI technology to clients.
Here are some key points:
The collaboration between the two entities started last year when Shutterstock licensed data to OpenAI to train DALL-E (a popular AI-powered image generator).
Shutterstock plans to offer an embedded version of DALL-E 2 to users. The Verge reports that such could be available “in the coming months”.
In a matter of fairness, Shutterstock will support its contributors with the “launch of fund aimed at ensuring artists are rewarded for contributions to AI datasets”.
That’s an interesting development considering the excitement AI image generators have provoked in recent times. But is there a real demand for such frameworks in professional settings? It’s probably too early to tell…
