Real-time payments in healthcare
Nomi Health recently launched a platform that supports real-time healthcare payments in the U.S.
On November 14, U.S.-based direct healthcare company Nomi Health announced the launch of its Connect platform that supports real-time healthcare payments. According to Nomi, this is a first in the industry.
Here are some key points:
Historically, the U.S. healthcare industry has resisted fintech innovation, including faster transactions.
Connect aims to help health plans and third-party administrators (TPAs) to process claims more quickly, minimize administrative expenses and overhead (which are factors in growing health insurance prices and poor user experiences).
Patients can use the Nomi patient portal to create a digital wallet in which they can store a payment method to be used at checkout, receive bill alerts, pay such, and check the current status of their remaining benefits.
It would be interesting to see if both direct and indirect competitors release similar products in the near future.
