On September 25, Getty Images introduced Generative AI by Getty Images, a “commercially safe generative AI tool”.

Here are a few key points:

  • It is trained using Getty Images' extensive creative content and is based on the Edify model architecture, part of NVIDIA Picasso for generative AI models in visual design.

  • This tool is designed to help customers find the right visual content while respecting creators' intellectual property. Users will receive a standard royalty-free license when creating and downloading visuals through the tool, and content generated will not be added to Getty Images' existing libraries for others to license. Contributors will be compensated for their content's inclusion in the training set.

  • Generative AI by Getty Images can be enabled on GettyImages.com and integrated into existing workflows through an API.

  • Additionally, customers will soon have the option to customize the tool with proprietary data to create images in their unique brand style and language, with more advancements planned for later this year.
