Chinese government bans ChatGPT integrations
But online platforms will be allowed to implement other AI chatbots under supervision
Due to rising worries over the chatbot's unfiltered responses to user requests, Chinese officials have urged Big Tech firms such as Tencent Holdings and Ant Group not to provide access to OpenAI's ChatGPT services on their platforms, either directly or via third parties.
Before developing their own ChatGPT-like services, tech companies will have to notify regulators.
Although ChatGPT is not officially available in China, some internet users have been able to use a virtual private network to gain access to it.
The move comes after an official response against ChatGPT, with state-owned media outlet China Daily alleging the AI chatbot may lend a helping hand to the U.S. government in its propagation of disinformation and its manipulation of global narratives for its own geopolitical goals.
And so the tech trade war continues…
