Top EU officials have recently criticized Twitter for failing to deliver a detailed report on its efforts to combat internet disinformation.

Last year, the company signed up for the EU's 2022 Code of Practice on Disinformation, along with other internet platforms, ad-tech companies, and civil society, committing to pursue actions aimed at combating disinformation.

The EU received extensive reports from Google, TikTok, Microsoft, Facebook, and Instagram's parent company Meta, while Twitter offered "little precise information and no targeted data," according to the European Commission. Twitter's baseline report was 79 pages long, substantially shorter than other corporations' filings.
