Amazon doubles down on Anthropic

The Big Tech firm will provide an additional $4 billion investment to the AI company

Anthropic has deepened its partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), naming AWS its primary training partner in addition to its role as the primary cloud provider.

Here are some key points:

• Anthropic will use AWS Trainium and Inferentia chips to train and deploy its foundation models.

• This collaboration includes a $4 billion investment from Amazon, bringing the tech giant’s total investment in Anthropic to $8 billion. The partnership aims to enhance performance, security, and customization on Amazon Bedrock, AWS's platform for accessing foundation models like Anthropic's Claude.

• Anthropic's Claude models, including Claude 3.5, have set benchmarks in generative AI and agentic capabilities, attracting tens of thousands of customers across industries such as Pfizer, T-Mobile, and DoorDash. These models are utilized for diverse applications, including customer service, drug discovery, and coding.

• The partnership also provides AWS customers with unique fine-tuning capabilities for Claude models.
