The year is soon coming to an end, so why not entertain a few predictions for 2024?

1/ The generative AI space will continue to be dominated by the OpenAI/Microsoft alliance

Let’s be real: OpenAI and its primary benefactor Microsoft have a clear first mover’s advantage. When you look at Google’s struggles with Bard and Gemini, I sometimes wonder if the gap will ever be bridged.

If GPT-5 is released next year, it may not represent a huge leap from GPT-4.5, but I doubt it would be a total disappointment.

2/ Health systems will continue to be targeted by hackers

Hospitals and other healthcare institutions faced numerous ransomware attacks in 2023, and 2024 could potentially be exponentially worse.

In the U.S. alone, 100 million people were affected this year, approximately one third of the total population. The information sensitivity in the sector serves as a strong motivator for paying ransoms.

3/ A resurgence of tech conferences may not happen

With challenging economic indicators on the horizon (aka the “R word”), I believe many companies will refrain from participating in physical, cost-prohibitive tech conferences.

Brand- or company-specific (mostly) online events are proving effective. Through these, you can control the message and keep costs down.

Have a safe New Year everyone and thanks for the continued support.
